Instacart - Express membership scam
I received an email this morning saying I had been charged $149 for a years membership for Instacart. Naturally I freaked out because I never signed up for or agreed to a membership for a service I used once and only once last year because it was such a terrible experience I never wanted to use them again.
I called them and they claimed I signed up for a 2 week trial period which had ended which is why I had been charged for a year. I asked when I had allegedly signed up for this 2 week period, was an order placed and where was it delivered. It was labor day and the guy was clearly reading my address from my order last year. I wasn't even in town on labor day!
Also, there were no charges to my card for groceries on that day. FRAUD! After being placed on hold for several minutes he told me the charges were reversed. Now I have to go cancel my debit card which is a whole other nightmare.
I don't trust Instacart not to try this BS again.
Honestly I don't trust them to reverse the charges. If they don't I will be going to the police.
Reason of review: Problems with payment.
Monetary Loss: $250.
Preferred solution: having to cancel my debit card will be a huge burden and time consuming. My time is valuable and I should be compensated..

These guys are major thieves and con artists with no shame. I wish we could make this really public.
Maybe I should contact the Philadelphia Inquirer and see if anyone is interested in researching and writing an article.
They tried to get me to agree to opening up another account. I refused because I had never worked with a company that didn't care or follow through with fixing the situation.
