New ReviewerInstacart will hold an extra 40-80% of your money, contrary to the 10-15% it admits to holding in its fine print. This fraud has resulted in my account being over drafted.
The Instacart app requested that I pay my total of $40 (thats for $30 in groceries, fees, and tip. Supposedly the rationale to hold the extra 10-15% for substitutions would be applied to my $30 in groceries, an extra $4.50 at the most, or an extra $6 if the formula was inexplicably applied to the total with tip) via ApplePay, so I transferred $50 to ApplePay and attempted to pay my $40 total. Instacart instead debited my account $55, and Im not even sure how it had access to my account. Clearly, Instacart added an extra 40% to the total or an extra 80% to the grocery total.
It did not advertise this extra fee and it was not authorized to plunder my account. The stolen $15 has been returned, but Im on the hook to pay an NSF created by Instacarts fraud.
User's recommendation: Do not allow this company access to your bank account!
Monetary Loss: $36.
Preferred solution: Apology.
Instacart Pros: Necessary service.
Instacart Cons: Scam and false charges to my cc.
