Instacart - Overcharging for items purchased.
I have no issue with delivery person, they were on time and very pleasant. The problem I have is with Instacart's price per item charges.
Instacart charged me more for the items than what the (Aldi) receipt showed. The receipt totaled $98.07, but I was charged $104.10. I went through receipt line by line to see that almost every item was marked up by 10-30 cents. Over all of the items I ordered, that was $6.03 extra!
They already charge $5.99 delivery fee + $5.19 tip + $5.20 service fee. Who pockets the $6.03 difference in grocery bill?...not me!
No more Instacart for this family, we can use the $22.41 extra in fees and overcharges to go toward more groceries. Especially when they are keeping $6.03 that is hidden in small item overcharges.
Reason of review: Pricing issue.
Monetary Loss: $6.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

The same thing happen to me. I may not have noticed before because the paper receipt was not left in the bag, but this time it was.
A $7.19 overage on top of my fees.
All I ask is charge me the price of the grocery item as it is not mark it up. So I am done with instacart.
Iโm dealing with the same issue with instacart overcharging me. They state that the store puts the price.
I am so upset with this service. It is completely unacceptable to have to pay a membership and then be overcharged.
I got my groceries today and after adding up all everything, it added up to about $25! I need to equip myself with a mask and gloves and go do my own groceries!
Twice Instacart has done the same to me. They probably did it more, but I wasnโt checking my receipts.
Now I check my receipts and Instacart robs their customers. I canโt believe they are allowed to engage in such blatant fraud.
You {{Redacted}}. How do you think a business that is a third party seller, makes money?
By UPCHARGING. Lmao do any of you know anything about business???? Don't you think paying just $5.99 plus a small service fee is enough to cover a premium service like having a personal shopper SHOP your food, and DELIVER your food???
Omg. I can't take this stupidity.
You pay a monthly subscription fee to use the app...so no, it seems you don't know how the app works. I can't handle the stupidity. SMH...research before you start flapping your gums.
I had the same experience twice now . Over charged from the receipt.
I dont mind paying the delivery fee and service fee for the convenience but they are consistently charging $7- $8 more total than what they are paying for the goods. The drivers are GREAT but this is seeming more and more like a scam.
Happened to me this evening. I was overcharged on the groceries by 14.5% ($9.68).
The driver left the receipt in the bag, so I have proof. Instacart wrote me a moronic customer service email explaining that the receipt from the store would not represent what I would pay because of the services charges, tips, and fees would not be on the receipt.
Obviously I would know that, because I had just placed the order. Will never order anything from them again.
Of course they charge more. That I expect.
This a business after all. My issue is how much they inflate their prices. $6.03 is a steal on a $98,00 order. They charge way more than that here.
Almost $2.00 on a pound of ham for example. Try purchasing beef, chicken, pork, outrageous! $.10 on a $.99 cent item and up. I don't need the receipt.
I look at my weekly flyer, make a list and continue to the Instacart app. I don't have a choice but to use them as I have recently become disabled.
I'm thankful it's available so I can remain independent however I live on a fixed income. If you can do your own shopping I suggest you do unless you have plenty of disposable income.
